Croeso,
Not only to the blog but to the season. What a year we have in front of us. Clwb are celebrating 50 years as an entity, we have new changing rooms, our kids are in the last year of primary school and our esteemed team manager is turning 40.
Alot of us have been together for a number of years now as a team and I know we all share some very special memories; from supporting the first teams Millinium stadium cup victory to Christmas time Pantomines and end of year award cermermonies; not to mention our own child's efforts and special moments - who can forget Bethan smashing that huge kid in Penarth or Robert's turn of pace last season or Lily's try at Dinas or that wing play from.....
It has been great to see all the children develop their skills year on year, and I know from speaking to the parents and the children, how lucky we feel to have the great coaching team and the set up that we do.
Although the summer appeared to fly by, it still seems an age ago that we were celebrating Charlie as our player of the season and Mabon as our team player. The whole team has a lot to live up to after the exploits of last season, especially coming so close to winning the St Albans tournament. It is great seeing Ralph back after his injury at that tournament. I would like to take this chance to welcome some new faces, Tomos and Jake. I know you will join me in wishing them luck in the Clwb shirt.
As I said Clwb are celebrating 50 years, so it is a great year to be associated with the clwb, but especially the under 11's. We are looking to organise a trip to a Rugby festival in Belfast NI in the spring, also tournaments elsewhere in Wales during the year. I hope to encourage more social events during the year; Blues rugby, laser quest, bowling etc. Anyone who wants to help out with that (either with ideas or organising) will be greatly appreciated.
Also a number of our players have started playing early on a Sunday with "Varsity Vandals Touch Rugby", on a Sunday Morning between 9:15-10:15 (this might be changing to 9:30-10:30 soon). This is great for children to build skills and confidence and is run by a great bunch of coaches. If you want to sign up with them it is £25 for the year which includes kit. It is worth trying it out and I would encourage you all to at least give it a try for a few weeks.
I have added the pathways document onto the blog, so please have a read. Pages 13, 20 and 21 apply to the new rules for our age group this season. Also you will see a link to CRCC main website, which is always worth keeping an eye on; along with their facebook and twitter accounts.
One last thing, Ovie and his family have settled into Canada well.
Ymlaen
Scott
