Fund Raising - RUGBY CARDS

Another great idea from MEL - Rugby Cards.

Its a real simple idea, you sell a team for £2 to 20 people. This makes £40.
When all teams are sold you scratch the silver covering off to reveal the winner. the winner recieves £20 and our fund recieves £20.

If we all take one or two cards, we have enough to rsie £800 in a short space of time with minimal effort. So at training I will hand cards out.... and thanks for the support.

Cake Sale...

Massive thanks to Mel and Lee for pushing the cake sale today and to everyone that contributed. I am personally gutted I missed out on Theo's efforts.

We are going to continue to sell cakes and add coffee, tea and even if you are very lucky bacon butties. All monies raised will go to bringing the cost of the "Tour to Belfast" down for everyone. In the coming days I will be letting you all know how you can help to....

CRCC Vs LLANDAF

SEREN Y GEM - CAI P

A tough couple of games today, but great to be able to field two teams against a pair of strong Llandaf teams.

I only managed to watch the one game today, where although things didn't go our way, heads stayed up and a lot of heart was shown, There were two tries from Charlie and one from Ralph. Also strong running with the ball in hand from Rhys and Osian MD, and some fancy stuff from Ralph.

From what I heard from other parents, the other game was more competitive. JP mentioned after the game the tackling of Max, and also Cai P who closed down the dangerous Llandaff winger time and time again. (If anyone has the scorers from this match let me know).

Today was another steep learning curve, another tough encounter; but if you can keep your head up and play as a team, enjoy the game, then you also won something today - which in many ways is more valuable than any score line.

Ymlaen Clwb !!!

My Management Team

I have recruited two parents to share my role as manager this season, to ensure we as a team are not only a team on the field, but off it too.

Although neither need an introduction, the blog post is too short not to...

Fund Raising Manager

Who is Mel ?  Charlie's Mam.

Interesting Fact: A former kickboxer..... so I have nothing else to say.

Qualifications: Last year Mel trained as a CRCC score keeper, volunteered to help paint the changing rooms, helped with the food and volunteered to help at every opportunity. She is also one of the most vocal parents we have on the sideline.

Social Manager

Who is Ian? Mabon's Dad

Interesting Fact: Someone in his family more or less invented the internet. Has a dodgy knee. Is a pretty good goalkeeper. Likes Curry.

Qualifications: Former Dunvant player - enough said.

Despite Ian trying to kill me every time I mention the W word, these are truely two of the most brillaiantly supportive people I have ever met. I believe with their recruitment, the team will grow beyond just Sunday mornings. Mel will be working towards raising money towards our tour(s), while Ian will be working towards organising monthly events for our kids to partake. Sometimes these roles will overlap, and I hope everyone will support them in their efforts. Any help you can offer them will be greatly appreciated. You can contact them through email or the whatsapp group, or even just speak to them on Sunday.

CARDIFF SCHOOL TRIALS

LLongyfarchiadau i Osian Darwin for being selected for Cardiff Schools 11's.
This is an amazing achievement and everyone at Clwb are very proud of you and look forward to following your progress throughout the season.

Also a well done must go to Charlie, Eben, Ffred, and Jake. The trials are not an easy place to play rugby and you have all gained a massive amount of experience going forward; that hopefully Clwb will now benefit from.

If you wish to follow Osian and Cardiff Schools 11's the twitter acount is https://twitter.com/csru_u11

Quote of the day from Coach Bryan
"It's too warm to be cwtch'ed up like that today, spread out!!"

Clwb dan 11 certainly made hay as the sun shone down in Penarth this Sunday. 14 tries - I will say that again 14 tries!!!!! But to be honest it was some of the passing and team play that really caught the eye.

Theo set an example on how to ruck; blasting people off the ball time and time again. Charlie jackeled everything in sight, Ralph marshalled the troops and there was high praise from JP for Max under the high ball.

Andy from kick off ran everything back and I don't think he missed a tackle all game. It was great also to see Logaan snaking through the defence, Ffreds free running, and Megan taking the ball up the field. Ymlaen Clwb !!!

Da iawn pawb, keep passing, tackling low and supporting each other at the ruck, it was an honour to watch you all play today.

Innerview - Charlie "Henson" Morgan

First up in our innerview series this season is Charlie "Henson" Morgan

So Charlie, thankyou for being our first innerviewee, what is your favourite memory playing at clwb?

Well I have had many great moments playing for clwb, from my debut, to playing at the millenium stadium, but the best memory is receiving the Player of the Season award last year.

Chwarae teg, that was a pretty special moment. Who is your favourite player at Clwb?

Logaan, now there is a player that likes to step.

What music do you listen to before a game?

Mostly I listen to a little Justn Beiber, but recently I have been liking that Panda track by Desiigner and produced by Menace

Who is your favourite Welsh International Rugby player?

Dan Biggar

When you grow up, if you don't play international rugby for Wales, what will you be doing?

I will probably be a catwalk model, i have been practising in the playground and can turn both left and right.

Who is your favourite Coach?

Coley, JP and Aled

What is your most embarrassing moment?

When I dropped the ball in a tackle in last years tournament, i just don't do things like that.

What is the best thing you add to the team?

I love to ruck, but i think my try scoring is my biggest contribution.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank?

My Mam, Lee , all the Coaches, JP Andy, Ioan, Daf, Aled, also Sion. I would also like to thank Mr Lewis from Pwll Coch.

Diolch eto Charlie, great innerview and pob lwc in the coming season.

CRCC Vs Pentyrch 11/09/2016

First game of the season against the mighty Pentrych, the largest club in our league, we couldn't ask for a bigger start to this years rugby. Ymlaen Clwb!!!!

Managers Clwb MOM Tomos Bradbury-Owen

Hard game to start with, but there was alot of pride shown in the Clwb shirt. JP talked highly of the tackling and Coley encouraged the team to work on the ruck area. Also great debuts from Tomos and Jake, great to have you both on board.

In our matrix Pentrych usually set the bar; so to know that so early in the season shows us where we need to be, and no doubt where we will be.

Ymlaen Clwb and pob lwc Pentyrch.

CRCC sign up to the WRU initiative. - Half A Game

What is the half a game initiative?
The half a game initiative is a recommendation that encourages clubs to pledge half a game of rugby to every junior player, every weekend. The initiative is breaking new ground for rugby in Wales and separates it from other sports.

The let us play campaign aims to give exposure to the game at a grassroots level. The parent charter is a list of expectations that a player and their parent/guardian can expect from our game. The half a game initiative will form an integral part in this moving forward. By introducing this regulation we are looking to make it clear to all players and parent/guardians involved in the game.
The initiative is supported across Wales via all Junior District Associations.

From a long-term club perspective… You've got to spend time developing all players so they are still going to be playing once they reach senior level in your club. (Gwent JDA)

I think every season we have attempted to adhere to this; but maybe other teams we play (not naming any names, or pointing any fingers) will also follow this initiative this season....

FAQs can be found on the WRU site : CLICK HERE
